The Straw Hat Pirates encounter no shortage of threats during their dangerous adventures across the world's oceans. In fact, the ocean itself is one of the harshest elements of the One Piece world, making the safe navigation of the Grand Line and the rest of the sea a top priority. Monkey D. Luffy entrusts Nami with the important responsibility of guiding the crew through mysterious waters, and her feats define her as one of the best navigators in the series.

Nami's talent as a navigator has been clear from a young age, leading to her childhood recruitment to the Arlong Pirates. Since joining the Straw Hat Pirates, Nami has led her crewmates to safety numerous times both on and off the ocean. Nami helps the Straw Hats navigate some of their most difficult moments of the series, making her contributions to the crew valuable far beyond her role as navigator.

The dynamic between Luffy and Nami is equal parts entertaining and endearing, making them many fans' favorite Straw Hat duo on screen.

The synergy between the Straw Hat Pirates is one of their greatest advantages as a pirate crew because it helps them effectively fill in the gaps in each other's strengths. One of the best examples of their teamwork is Nami's intervention when Sanji is rendered defenseless against a CP9 agent at Enies Lobby. There, Luffy and his crew find themselves in a knock-down drag-out battle with Cipher Pol's most notorious agents.

Sanji's overwhelming infatuation with women makes it difficult for him to face CP9 Agent Kalifa when she attacks him because he refuses to fight back against female enemies. As ridiculous as it may seem for Sanji to let himself be beaten by an opponent at such an important moment, Nami accepts Sanji's principle and steps up to fight Kalifa in his stead. By stepping in on Sanji's behalf, Nami covers for what is easily the cook's greatest weakness, once again demonstrating her worth as a part of Luffy's crew.

As the faithful navigator of the Straw Hat Pirates, Nami takes a special interest in the well-being of their ship, which carries the spirit of Monkey D. Luffy and his loyal crew. When mysterious enemies attack the Going Merry at Skypeia, Nami fearlessly defends the vessel with Gan Fall's support and new weapons that she has procured during her time

As One Piece fans prepare for the final saga, classic sequences like the Alabasta and Enies Lobby arcs become even more meaningful in retrospect.

As representatives of Enel, the tyrannical ruler of Skypiea, the goofy sibling duo of Hotori and Kotori arrogantly threaten Nami and Gan Fall while recklessly attacking their ship. However, with the versatile power of unique dial technology, the brothers get thrown from the deck of the ship to the water below. Nami pairs the Clima-Tact with a dial to create a clever attack powerful enough to defeat Hotori and Kotori's surprise attack, once again exceeding expectations en route to protecting her crewmates.

Despite her initial hesitance to join the Straw Hat Pirates, Nami fearlessly puts her safety on the line to save Monkey D. Luffy shortly after meeting him. Without a Devil Fruit or any other special abilities to protect her, Nami makes a gruesome sacrifice to stop Buggy from annihilating her future captain in Orange Town. After being captured by the Buggy Pirates, Straw Hat Luffy is caged for execution via cannon.

Time feels like it slows when the cannon's fuse lights, putting pressure on Nami to act before her newfound ally is blown away. In a desperate attempt to save Luffy's life, Nami suddenly clasps the fuse's flame with her bare hands, enduring burns directly to her palms to successfully stop the cannon from firing. Although this doesn't mark Nami's official entry into the Straw Hat Pirates, it is notably the first time that she sacrifices her own well-being for the sake of her companions.

Early into Nami's tenure with the Straw Hat Pirates, she learns there's no better way to help Zoro than reuniting him with his swords. Although Zoro is still a formidable foe without his weapons, she recognizes he's at his most dangerous when he can utilize his skillful swordsmanship, once again proving that the navigator knows the Straw Hat Pirates as well as any character in One Piece.

After the Black Cat Pirates take possession of Zoro's swords at Syrup Village, Nami boldly takes her chance to reunite Zoro with his weapons when she gets the opportunity. Nami swiftly kicks Zoro's swords through the air to him, seamlessly bringing him back into the fight. The daring move shows how well Nami's resourceful nature complements her crewmates and begins a long-standing trend of the navigator using her wits to steer the crew away from danger.

At the beginning of One Piece, Nami is initially aligned with the Arlong Pirates, who have used the safety of her hometown as leverage to force Nami to do their bidding. However, she eventually turns on them to join the Straw Hat Pirates, setting up her entry into Luffy's crew. Unfortunately, because of their precarious circumstances, Nami has to briefly operate as though she is still loyal to the notorious Captain Arlong.

The power of friendship is very real in the One Piece series, and Straw Hat Pirates are the best example of friendships that are forged with fire.

At several critical moments, Nami goes against the Arlong Pirates to keep the Straw Hat Pirates safe without her crew noticing. In one instance, Nami uses her deceptive skills to convince the Fish-Men that she only saved Zoro from drowning to make him suffer worse, then later frees him from imprisonment. She makes an even riskier sacrifice when she stabs her own hand to fake an attack on Usopp, proving the deceiving lengths she'll go to help her allies.

While Nami may not be the strongest Straw Hat Pirate, she's as fearless as any of her crewmates when the duty of protecting allies falls on her shoulders. In one of Nami's best One Piece moments, she risks her life standing up to Big Mom Pirate Charlotte Cracker when Monkey D. Luffy becomes incapacitated. Considering Cracker is capable of trading blows with Luffy himself, Nami's willingness to spring to action comes as a surprise to all parties.

Nami's Clima-Tact significantly improves her combat prowess, but Charlotte Cracker immediately separates her from her trusty weapon, leaving her defenseless. Even with the Clima-Tact, Charlotte Cracker is a terrifying opponent for Nami to face alone. Despite this fact, Nami fearlessly confronts the Big Mom Pirate and serendipitously buys Luffy exactly as much time as he needs to recover and take over the battle for her.

When the Straw Hat Pirates make a pit stop in Whisky Peak, they are goaded into a drinking contest that eventually results in a violent misunderstanding between Luffy and Zoro. With the crew's captain and first mate at odds, the stability of the Straw Hat Pirates comes into question. Although most One Piece characters wouldn't dare to interrupt a fight between the two powerful pirates, Nami steps up to take control of the situation and guide the crew back on track.

Nami is one of the few people in the world who has the right relationship with Luffy and Zoro to chime in on their disagreements. The fearless navigator is impressive for being brave enough to intervene in the fight while commanding enough respect for them to listen to her despite their frustration. Thankfully, with Nami's help, Luffy and Zoro resolve their differences while simultaneously defeating two of Baroque Works' most powerful agents.

Every Straw Hat Pirate contributes to the crew in ways beyond their proscribed roles, and Nami is no exception. However, Nami's proficiency in her designated role as the crew's navigator is on a truly exceptional level. When a terrible storm threatens the Going Merry as Nami falls ill, she proves that she may very well be One Piece's best navigator.

Before Nefertari Vivi and the Straw Hats reach Drum Island, Nami becomes sick to the point that she needs urgent attention from a doctor. As they traverse the ocean in pursuit of medical care for Nami, a massive cyclone threatens their path. In a brief but meaningful moment of reflection after they're safe from the storm, Vivi voices her awe over Nami's ability to seemingly sense the weather to navigate safely despite being virtually incapacitated.

The advantages of wielding a Devil Fruit are versatile and powerful, but a mere drop of seawater threatens to eliminate all of those benefits. The Straw Hat Pirates are a balanced crew of those who have and haven't eaten Devil Fruits, effectively offsetting the danger of the sea as long as a non-user is around to help when needed. However, even with a balanced crew, the waters of the New World can catch even the most experienced sailors off-guard.

Zoan-type Devil Fruits are some of the strongest and rarest tools in One Piece – and its users are just as powerful.

When the living island of Zunesha causes a massive flash flood, the fates of Brook and Momonosuke sit in Nami's hands. Nami vocalizes her frustration with the uselessness of the crew's Devil Fruit users in the water before selling out to save them. Although Devil Fruit users have access to unique magical powers, their weakness to ocean water is a devastating trade-off in a story set on the seas. Luckily for Luffy and his crew, having a quick-thinking non-Devil Fruit user is an excellent way to offset this vulnerability.

The Wano Arc pits the Straw Hat Pirates against Kaido, Big Mom, and the two respective crews of the Emperors of the Sea, so it's only natural that the Straw Hat Pirates undergo a significant period of growth during this sequence. Nami's strength rises to new heights throughout epic performances during the conflict against the Beast Pirates, and one of Nami's best fights of the series happens in Wano against Ulti, one of the Beast Pirate's six Tobiroppo.

When Usopp becomes injured fighting Ulti, he leaves Nami alone to defend herself and Tama from the Beast Pirate. The tone of the battle shifts when Nami watches Ulti strike Tama, igniting unadulterated rage within her. With renewed vigor, Nami bravely takes Tama back from Ulti and deals enough damage to keep her cruel opponent from causing the child any more harm.

Follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew in order to find the greatest treasure ever left by the legendary Pirate, Gold Roger. The famous mystery treasure named "One Piece".
